Rob Walton, the eldest son of Walmart founder Sam Walton, served as chairman of Walmart for 23 years following his father's passing in 1992. During his tenure, Walmart achieved significant success, with revenue totaling $611.3 billion for the year ending Jan. 31, 2023. In June 2015, Walton retired as chairman and was succeeded by his son-in-law, Greg Penner, who remains on Walmart's board.

Rob Walton, along with other heirs of Sam Walton, collectively owns approximately half of Walmart's stock. Additionally, in June 2022, Walton led a group that purchased the NFL's Denver Broncos for a record $4.7 billion.

Apart from his Walmart involvement, Rob Walton holds a 25.5% stake in Arvest Bank, the largest bank in Arkansas. Furthermore, he, along with his daughter Carrie and son-in-law Greg Penner, acquired the Denver Broncos for $4.65 billion in August 2022, with Walton holding a 34% stake in the team.
